Iris is meant to help with your life. This is what it must not be used for, and what we do if it is.

This policy forms part of our terms of service. It applies to everything you do with Iris, including through connected accounts, goals and automations.

1. Don’t break the law

Don’t use Iris for anything illegal, or to plan, encourage or help anyone else do something illegal.

  • harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone;
  • promote violence, terrorism or violent extremism, or hatred against people because of who they are;
  • encourage or give instructions for self-harm or suicide. If you are struggling, you can call Samaritans free on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland, any time;

3. Don’t deceive people

Don’t use Iris to:

  • run scams, phishing or fraud, or send spam;
  • impersonate a person or organisation, or misrepresent who you are;
  • create content that passes off AI output as human-written where that would mislead people in a way that matters, such as reviews, testimonials or academic work submitted as your own where that isn’t allowed;
  • spread information you know to be false in order to cause harm.

4. Respect other people’s rights

Don’t use Iris to infringe anyone’s copyright, trade marks, privacy or other rights. Only connect accounts you are allowed to use, and only share information about other people that you have the right to share.

Don’t use Iris to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on someone, such as about their employment, housing, credit or access to services, without a person reviewing the decision.

5. Don’t misuse the service

Don’t:

  • try to get around Iris’s safeguards, limits or security, or test its security without our written permission;
  • access Iris by automated means, scrape it, or overload it;

  • resell or sub-license Iris, or offer it to others as part of a service;
  • use Iris or its output to build or train a competing product or model;
  • upload malware or anything designed to damage or interfere with a system.

6. What we do if this policy is broken

We may refuse a request, remove content, limit features, or suspend or close your account, depending on how serious the problem is. Where the law requires it, or someone may be at risk of harm, we may report it to the authorities.

7. Reporting misuse
